Uber is as Uber does and as Ubers go, Nene Adam's Kwaidan Series is as Uber as it gets. I've read my fair share of the Uber X:WP stories (hell, I've probably read some of your share too), so I'm familiar with what's Uber and what's not. If you're new to the Xena: Warrior Princess Uber fiction game, or been around for a while and somehow managed to miss this bard and this excellent tale, you're in for a treat. Here's why:

Kwaidan: Supernatural Tales of the Floating World takes place in a Japanese Imperial Court setting where shogun, courtesans and samurai get up to all manner of intrigue. It's a brilliant and rollicking tale.

Xena shows up as the female Samurai, Ichijo Ayumi, who gets wrapped up in the fate and court doings of the lady Kimiko Fujiwara - Uber Gabrielle. There's a supernatural happenstance, some danger and adventure. The fun starts rolling early, the laughs are fast and frequent. You'll have a good time. The story crosses the Warrior themes we've come to appreciate with madcap heiress slapstick comedy. Clever and well written - it's a prize.

As of this writing, Ms. Adams has written three installments in the series. The installments are infrequent, but it's well worth the wait. Also, the webpage is beautifully designed, worth the time it takes to download if you're using a dial up connection.

If you'd rather not read a terrific tale of adventure and romance, I could see why you'd be in a rush to pass this one up. What it is you're in a rush to do instead, I'm not sure I want to know, but you're missing out!
